Brave Beauty

I recently had the opportunity to review the Faithgirlz book Finding the Fearless You:  Brave Beauty.  This is an inspiring devotional book for girls between the ages of 8 and 12. There are 100 power-packed mini-chapters covering relevant topics such as self-worth, family, friends, value, forgiveness, salvation, loving difficult people, self-esteem, body changes, peer pressure; etc.

FaithGirlz: Hello Stars!

I often agree to doing reviews for books I think my children would like. So, when the opportunity arose to review Hello Stars, I immediately thought of my daughter. Truth be told, once I started reading the book, I found myself drawn into the book---me, an adult!  Even though the audience is clearly young girls (likely tweens), I was personally blessed by this book.

Book Review for Love Letters From God: Bible Stories for a Girl's Heart

Love Letters from God: Bible Stories for a Girl's Heart is a beautifully written gem of a book sure to delight young girls. There are fourteen Bible stories represented in this book.  Each story shares the tale of a heroine from the Bible.

What Shoes are You Wearing Today?

So, there we were in the car, driving over an hour to get to my son's regularly scheduled appointment with his specialist.  Something was bothering me, irritating me, but I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what it was.  Did I turn the burners off?  My husband said I did.  Did I leave a curling wand on?  OK...we were safe there because I hadn't even USED a curling wand that morning. Did I leave water running somewhere in the house?

Brave Girls Beautiful You is a Beautiful Book

I recently had the privilege of reviewing an absolutely wonderful devotional for girls called Brave Girls:  Beautiful You.  Although this was my first time reading anything from the Brave Girls series, I'm certain it won't be my last. Devotions in this little gem of a book are told from the point of view of one of three different girls:  Gracie, Hope, and Glory.

Just OK: Lots of Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids, a review

Because I know my kids like jokes, I thought it would be fun to review Lots of Knock-Knock Jokes for Kids. Some of the jokes were cute. Some, typical of knock-knock jokes, were kind of silly and pointless.  However, I have to keep in mind that they ARE knock-knock jokes.

Wednesday's Wonderful Website

Scholastic has a webpage called "Daily Starters" that has different problems and fun factual information for teachers to use with their students.  For classroom teachers, there is a "class view" version for projecting onto a white board.  For homeschool moms, the daily starters can be printed out, or you can have your children simply check their answers right on the webpage.

Powerful and Fun Devotional for Kids

I am always looking for a good devotional for my children.  Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids definitely fits the bill. This 365 entry devotional is a perfect way to start out the New Year with the kids.  The layout is aesthetically pleasing because it stays simple--without the busyness often found in children's books.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Equal Homeschool Curriculum Savings

I personally really appreciate all the sales that occur this time of year.  Over the past few years, I've discovered that this is, amazingly, a great time to stock up on curriculum I know I'm going to use with my kids.

Here are some examples of some of the sales currently happening:

Book Review: The FaithGirlz Bible

Initial Thoughts: I decided to review the NKJV FaithGirlz Bible because I wanted to see if it was something young girls like my daughter might like.  Not only do I think that they would like it, but I also personally enjoyed looking through this Bible.  The colorful "girly" pages with occasional splashes of pretty light pink, purple, or fuchsia were fun.
