Powerful and Fun Devotional for Kids

I am always looking for a good devotional for my children.  Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life Devotional for Kids definitely fits the bill. This 365 entry devotional is a perfect way to start out the New Year with the kids.  The layout is aesthetically pleasing because it stays simple--without the busyness often found in children's books.  Each devotional entry begins with a title.  Some examples included "Missionary Calling," "Crazy Love,"  "Big Book of Reminders," and "Misdirected."  They are simple, direct, and pertinent.  The title is followed by a a Bible passage.  Although some of the Bible passages are just a verse, many are several verses, which is nice. Next is an explanation of the Bible verse, an anecdote, advice, or some kind of exhortation. The topics are relevant, something the kids will understand, and also full of rich teaching. Lastly, the devotional for each entry ends with a prayer.  I love that these appear to be conversational:  teaching the kids that prayer is talking with God.  For example, on Day 172, the prayer says, "Lord, it's not easy to keep my mouth shut when other kids are saying mean things. Please remind me to...say only good things..."  Again, the prayers are relevant and definitely something kids experience/encounter.  I highly recommend this great devotional, which the publisher recommends for ages 8-12.
